چکیده

The "bound auxin" of Zea mays, first described by Berger and Avery (Amer. J. Bot. 1944; 31: 199-203) has been purified and partially characterized. It is an indole-3-acetic acid-containing, high molecular weight, lipophilic cellulosicglucan. The indole-3-acetic acid is in ester linkage as evidenced by indoleacetamide formation upon ammonolysis. The glucan is of variable chain length and comprises, in general, 35 to 50 per cent of the dry weight of the compound. The glucosidic residues are beta 1 --> 4 linked and are hydrolyzed by cellulase. Mild acid hydrolysis produces cellobiose and cellotriose. Other components, as yet unidentified, of the compound are described.

A Simple Purification of Indole-3-Acetic Acid and Abscisic Acid for GC-SIM-MS Analysis by Microfiltration of Aqueous Samples through Nylon.

A simple procedure was developed for the partial purification of plant tissue samples to be analyzed simultaneously for indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) and abscisic acid (ABA). The procedure relies on removal of contaminants by filtration through nylon and partitioning into dichloromethane. This procedure successfully purified both IAA and ABA from muskmelon, cotton, and broccoli tissue. Twenty indi...

Proposed Model for the Peroxidase-Catalyzed Oxidation of Indole-3-acetic Acid in the Presence of the Inhibitor Ferulic Acid.

Linear increments in ferulic acid concentration produce logarithmic increases in the ferulic acid-induced lag periods prior to the peroxidase-catalyzed oxidation of indole-3-acetic acid in a system containing 2,4-dichlorophenol and MnCl(2) in acetate buffer at pH 5.6. Maintaining the ratio of indole-3-acetic acid to ferulic acid constant at 100 while linearly raising the ferulic acid concentrat...

Isolation and characterization of plant growth-promoting bacteria from Syrian bean caper (Zygophyllum fabago) rhizosphere

Some rhizobacteria have positive effects on plants growth. Syrian bean-caper (Zygophyllum fabago) is a weed plant with medicinal value. This study was conducted to isolate and identify bacteria from Syrian bean-caper rhizosphere. Characteristics associated with plant growth stimulation, such as phosphate and zinc dissolution, production of Indole acetic acid and antifungal activity, were invest...

Isolation and characterization of esters of indole-3-acetic acid from the liquid endosperm of the horse chestnut (Aesculus species).

Esters of indole-3-acetic acid were extracted and purified from the liquid endosperm of immature fruits of various species of the horse chestnut (Aesculus parviflora, A. baumanni, A. pavia rubra, and A. pavia humulis). The liquid endosperm contained, at least 12 chromatographically distinct esters. One of these compounds was purified and characterized as an ester of indole-3-acetic acid and m...

Partial purification and characterization of cresolase and catecholase activity of black mulberrys (Morus nigra)

Polyphenol oxidase from Black mulberrys was extracted and partially purified through (NH4)2SO4 precipitation, dialysis and ion exchange chromatography. P-cresol was the better substrate for cresolase activity with a Km (11.5 mM) and catechol for catecholase activity with Km (6.4 mM) at pH 5. Km for cresolase and catecholase activity of IsoPPOII at pH 6.5 were 12 and 8.5 and for IsoPPOIII at pH ...
